4 Bali villa design tips for any home

Bali villa design tips

Whether you have purchased a villa in Bali and need to decorate it or simply want to bring a little of that style to your home, it’s not as simple as you might think. In fact, finding Balinese decor is the easy part, bringing the overall design requires a little more thought and planning. Never fear, here are four Bali villa design tips that will help you get the look you’re after.

1.) Be sure to use brown

How you incorporate the colour brown into your design is up to you, however, Balinese interior design is well known for using multiple shades of brown. An authentic Bali villa will use a lot of wood products and that is why brown is so popular. Using wooden accessories or furniture is one way to get this look and feel. Alternatively, something like brown bedding or brown can be a cheaper alternative to add the colour to your bedroom.

2.) Avoid manufactured products

Balinese decor features the use of a lot of natural products. Furniture made from rattan, cane or wicker can give any home the charm of a Bali villa. And don’t forget, these types of furniture are lightweight and easily moveable. This means you can arrange and rearrange them to meet your needs.

3.) Let there be natural light

Arguably the most important of all Bali villa design tips is this one. Utilise natural light whenever possible. Now, this may be easier if you own a villa in Bali and not a flat London, but even on cloudy days, there is still natural light to be found. Bringing this into any home will open it up and highlight the other design elements.

4.) Pillow power

Villas in Bali tend to have pillows everywhere. Pillows on the bed. Pillows on the couch. Pillows on the chairs. Pillows on pillows. Comfort plays a large role in Balinese design and pillows help make it happen. Now don’t just throw a bunch of mismatching pillows everywhere. Instead, buy pillows that fit with the colour scheme of a room and make sure the sizes match the furniture they will rest on.
