9 reasons Bali isn’t just for holidays

Find out why Bali is a great place to live and more than just a holiday destination.

Bali has got a name for itself. And there is a good reason why. It has become a mecca for holidaymakers wanting to take time out on this paradise island. The closest overseas beach destination from Australia, hordes come to this this Indonesian hotspot to soak up the culture, sun, sea and sand. However, there is more to holidaying on Bali. It can be a great place to call your home too. Here are just a few reasons why.

1. Lifestyle.

Bali is all about being laid-back. The word hurry does not seem to exist. Therefore it is ideally suited to those who prefer not to rush through life and get caught up in the rat race. It is not surprising that many start-ups choose Bali as their home due to this not forgetting the cheap cost of living on offer.

2. Beach life.

Beaches aren’t just for holidaying, but they are a great place to exercise or spend time with your friends or family. There are too many to list but there is a beach suited to your exact needs. Whether that is to catch the surf, to escape to a hidden cove, to sip a cocktail or to explore the underwater world from.

3. Surf.

Some people come to Bali for the surf alone. With a choice of beaches there are spots littered with pros waiting for just the right wave. However, there are plenty of beginner beaches for those not ready to tackle some of the island’s bigger breaks.

4. More than just beaches.

We have mentioned the beaches a few times and it can be easy to think of Bali as just being about its sandy shores, but this is certainly not the case. It is a volcanic island with jungles and rice paddies to explore. It is ideal for those who want to lead an active life and want to partake in cycling, hiking or yoga.

5. Outdoors life.

Most things in Bali are geared up to life outside but this does not just apply to exercise. Restaurants and even homes are designed in a way that the living area is open but covered overhead in case of rain. It is a far cry from living in an air conditioned box in Jakarta.

6. Off the beaten track.

Think of Bali and you may think of Kuta, Ubud or Seminyak. Whilst each has their own draws, there are probably not the hangouts of the locals. It is easy to get off the beaten track in Bali. Escape the traffic on one of the main thoroughfares and you will be weaving through rice paddies, feeling like you are a million miles away from the crowds of the tourists. Head to Canguu if you want to sample somewhere a little more hip or north of the island to find some of the most deserted beaches.

7. Regional hub.

There are countless flights that operate out of Denpasar. Flying within the region such as to Singapore, Hong Kong or Bangkok, and even further afield to Russia, the Middle East, New Zealand and Europe. This makes getting in and out of Bali a breeze and ideal for those who either want a holiday home on the island or who need to travel for business.

8. Business.

Bali is rife with business opportunities. For those geared towards the flourishing tourist market such as hotels and restaurants, to manufacturing industries producing homeware or fashion. Many designers come to the island to get their items made at a cheap rate to sell overseas at a significant profit. The cheap cost of labour and the lost cost of living makes Bali the ideal place to set up and run a new business venture.

9. Accommodation.

The accommodation in Bali sets itself from anything else. Even in the busiest of spots on the island, travel down through the high walls and pass through a gate to step into a private villa sanctuary. Designed in Balinese style, the private villas in Bali are a true haven and often have their own private swimming pool.
