Bali has long since been an Australian getaway but now many are snapping up property.
Land on Indonesia’s popular holiday destination of Bali and it won’t take long to see a bit of Australia on this famed island. According to figures over one million resident Australians descend upon the island each year. Lured in by the tropical landscape, beaches and the low cost of living. Bali is Australia’s closest overseas beach getaway that is enticing more and more of its citizens to set up home on a more permanent basis. Or even to invest in a holiday home which can also be let out to other holidaymakers.
Property in Bali is considerably lower than it is back on home turf. The prospect of a luxurious Balinese villa is within reach and comes in at a fraction of the cost. Not to mention the many added service such as maids, chefs, and even butlers that are affordable luxuries. Something that for many Australians is just a pipe dream. Australian influences are scattered all over the island from restaurants, shops and bars. Thus adding to this island paradise appeal and making it a true home from home.
Despite foreigners not being permitted to own land in Indonesia there are still ways to get round this. The choices are either to rent on a long term basis or to team up with a local. Australians are not deterred by this and apparently make up nearly 40 percent of interested parties attending open houses for properties that are on the market. Other nationalities include residents from Singapore, China and Hong Kong.
It is easy to see why Australians are looking to Bali. There is a lot of love. Plus there are copious flights operating to the island making it particularly accessible. Unsurprisingly the vast majority of interested Australians come from Western Australian, and the appetite for Balinese property for residents across the country is expected to continue.
